Coastal Rescue
Location: Bangkok, Thialand &New Orleans, USA
2022.07-2022.08 Individual Work
Bangkok is increasingly susceptible to continued shocks and disturbances from both the north-freshwater flooding versus intense droughts and the south-coastal erosion and saltwater intrusion .
Coastal area is the place to suffer from subsidence and many other related problems earlier than the city, therefore community lives may have significantly changed accordingly.
PROJECT GOALS:
Release intrusion process
Minimize impact on coastal residency

In 2050, coastal wetlands are bound to be intruded by sea water. With coastline pushing back the livable boundary, farmers are likely to spead more densely and form inland markets to feed families and communities.
In coatal brackish context, a self-sustained agriculture can be adopted by farmers to support life income as well as the coastal ecology. New products including shrimps that are more used to salt water can be chosen to develop compost and purification materials. Adjacent ponds can be organized as a purification and recycle groups based on shrimp farming waste resourece.

With increasing frequency of storm surge, in 2050, coastal wetland restoration will continue to proceed to reduce ecological fragmentation. Architecture proposals will continue to advance into strong wind adaptive structures to extend potential residential period and provide emergency shelters. Coastal farming including crab, oyster and fising will continue to develop closer to the land as shoreline gets behind, causing water salinity change.
